More Studio Azul layouts from Jan kit

I must admit, when I first saw the Studio Azul January kit, Inspirasi, I was apprehensive but intrigued with the kit contents. If you know me, the bold designs and colors are not really my style. So it was really a challenge to be able to make use of them.

I used the more subtle Basic Grey papers first for my layout, I Love You More Today Than Yesterday. Then after I've developed our school Family Day pictures, I thought the Tinkering Ink papers would be perfect for these. Then I found an old photo of my 3 girls' toes and I thought I can
use the kit again for this. I think I did fairly well. :D

I Love You More Today than Yesterday

The Kaya Challenge for February is Stitch Me A Song; create a layout incorporating stitches and lyrics of a song in it.

This wasn't an easy challenge for me. Mier and I are such music enthusiasts that it was difficult to choose the ONE song that would convey how I feel at this moment. In fact, most of my wedding layouts were our songs: As by George Michael, Putting All My Eggs in One Basket by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, So Lucky by Johnny Hartman and One Heart, One Heart from the West Side Story musical. (Pls have patience with my earlier layouts. Was still a beginner then. LOL!)

Anyway, I had these pictures that were taken during our 9th wedding anniversary last month. And after much thinking, I believe that this song that I chose is very apt for my layout. After 9 years of marriage, I can really say that my love for Mier has grown deeper and stronger since when we started out. And I do look forward to loving him more in the years to come. :-)

Our Girls - Exploding Box

I have so many pictures of the girls from the calendars I made last Christmas. I decided to put these in an exploding box. I love the outcome! This would be a perfect Valentine's Day gift to them and to Mier too. :-)

Perfect Match

Mier and I were together for 7 and a half years when we tied the knot. Within those years, we broke up twice wherein the second break up was so serious that I though he was totally out of my life already. But I guess God had other plans for us. :-)

Here's my layout for Mothers and Daughters Creations Challenge this week. We were suppose to have a product challenge and a color challenge but since my kit hasn't arrived, I worked on using the colors red, white and teal on my layout.

BG Challenged No More!

I opened my inbox this evening and guess what I found? An email from Basic Grey saying that my layout, Silly, has been selected to appear in their on-line gallery. OMG!!

I admit, when BG first came out, I was intimidated with their big and bold designs. I never thought I'd really learn how to use the papers but I guess my style has evolved, somewhat. Hehe! I have actually been constantly challenged by their papers. So finally, after countless submissions into their gallery, I am recognized! I am no longer BG challenged! :-)

I have always enjoyed checking out the challenges in Scrappin Kids. My children are usually the subjects of my layouts because I simply scrap for them. And I just love how the SK RD come up with challenges that help me document their lives.

A Cousin For Us!

My girls were ecstatic to finally have a first cousin. When my sister-in-law, Sherly, gave birth last September, they were so excited to see Sabine and were constantly asking about her. But it was only last December, when we went to spend the holidays with them, did the girls start enjoying having her around. Sabine at 3 months was starting to smile and respond already. Here's a layout of my three girls with Sabine.

I didn't use patterned paper for this layout. A transparency, flowers, stamps and a journaling card completed the whole layout. I also used my flocking and foiling kit for the pink scalloped edge. I enjoyed doing that very much! Must use it more for my layouts. :-)

Wishing for Snow

For Mothers & Daughters Creations' last scrapbook challenge for the month, the design team members were tasked to create a winter layout. Now I thought I'd be having problems with this. For one, we live in a tropical country where snow is utterly inexistent. Likewise, we've never been abroad where there is snow. So what do I do? Then I remembered how my children constantly long to see and play with snow. I found some pictures of them pretending and imagining themselves in snow and thought I'd scrap that. :-)

I used papers from Best Creations Inc. and Imaginisce Paper. I also used May Arts Ribbons and a sticker journaling paper (I think this is My Little Yellow Bicycle).

I Am a Domestic Engineer a.k.a. Homemaker a.k.a. Stay-At-Home-Mom

I used to prefer being called a Homemaker rather than a Stay-At-Home-Mom or a Housewife. I thought it gave more meaning to the gravity of what I actually do for my husband and my kids. Hehehe!

Then I stumbled upon the term "Domestic Engineer" in the Internet and thought this was so hilarious, but possibly true. A lot of people think that just because I am involved full time with my kids and my home that I have all the time in my hands to do other things. That is far from true! Indeed I am like an engineer, putting theoretical ideas into practical use whether it be in cooking, parenting, budgeting, etc. So for Journaling Junkie's challenge, I thought this would make a great page. :-)

Scrappin Kids Weekend Challenges

I participated in Scrappin Kids' challenges last weekend. I remembered enjoying myself during the last weekend challenge sometime last September and was so excited to do it all over again.

There were 5 challenges all in all that were posted on Saturday evening and were due at 5pm the next day. I was able to finish four of the challenges. I liked my layouts although after posting them, I felt I could have added a few more embellishments. I probably was feeling the pressure of finishing them right away. :-) But nevertheless, I'm just happy I was able to scrap photos that have been sitting on my desk for weeks and even months. No more Simple Scrapbooks Mag :-(

I was so shocked to read about this. Simple Scrapbooks, one of my favorite magazines about scrapping, is ceasing publication after its May/June issue. I am saddened by this decision. SS has been one of my favorite magazines since I started scrapping. I love the Simple philosophy to create the memories first then record them. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed with all the scrapping products and materials and all the photos we've taken that we forget the reason why we're scrapping in the first place. SS keeps me grounded, reminds me about the reason why I'm scrapping. Again and again, SS has made me think about creating activities and memories for me and my children to treasure until they have grown. SS has made me more aware of life, of opportunities and of my blessings. Although they will be infused with Creating Keepsakes, it still won't be the same.

To the staff of SS, congrats to a job well done! You and your publication will surely be missed.

A Dad's Love

Behind the name MIA

The MDC challenge for the week is to scrap your name --- its meaning or an anagram. Well, Mia is actually my nickname but since most people know me by this name I decided to work on this. I researched in the Internet for the etymology of my name and was somewhat happy with the result. :-)

I used Daisy Bucket Designs (Playful Petals) for this layout. I also used Kaiser Rhinestone - Lt Pink - Mixed Flowers, Imaginsice Polished Pebbles in Pink and My Yellow Bicycle Christmas Magic Clear Cuts Glittered Frames and Titles (I cut the flourish and place it at the right lower edge of my photo).

Here's a layout I made using Sketch #33 from Creative Scrappers. Alyssa is just so adorable and I admit I love taking numerous pictures of her. Isn't it that obvious? LOL! I just want to continue capturing her growing years just as I did with her big sisters.

I'm getting my scrapping groove back! Finished 3 layouts yesterday but can't post yet because they're for DT assignments. LOL! But I am excited! Here's another layout I finished in less than an hour. :-)

I love these pictures of Nadine and her baby cousin, Sabine. Nadine has always had this charm for babies. I don't know why but they seem to naturally gravitate towards her. And it thrills her to no end! Here, I found her playing "peek-a-boo" with Sabine while we were in Manila.

Notice that I used the rub ons to create my journaling lines. I love this!

Oh my! Looks like I haven't posted for quite sometime now. We just returned yesterday from a 10-day vacation in Cavite, my in laws' place, for the holidays. I still have a couple of unfinished layouts that need a little tweaking (journaling and more embellishments) before I post them. I also have some DT layouts that need to be submitted. Since Daddy's family is in Manila and Mommy's family is in Cagayan de Oro, we usually travel during the holidays --- celebrating Christmas eve in one place and New Year's eve in the other. This year we spent Christmas Eve in Cagayan de Oro and flew to Manila on Christmas Day and stayed there even after New Year's Day. How fun to celebrate with both families! CHRISTMAS 2007

Countdown to Christmas

I can't believe it has almost been a week since I last posted! Have been really busy here at the homefront with parties and Christmas preparations. My two older girls have exams this week so reviewing and studying add to the busyness of the season. I can't wait for Friday to come when exams are done and the kids will have their final day in school with a Christmas party. :-)

We finally started our Christmas shopping yesterday and hopefully we get everything done soon. I've also tried to be creative once in a while though not as much as I would like to. I just had pictures developed so hopefully I'll make progress in between busyness.

In the meantime, here's a layout I created for Mothers and Daughters Creations for this week's challenge. My kids can't seem to stop asking me if Christmas is near and when will it come. So I created this Countdown to Christmas using the Daisy Bucket Designs papers. I punched out the ornaments in chipboard and various patterned papers and placed number stickers on them. I intend to frame this in a shadowbox as a Christmas decor. :-)

Holiday Shaped Card at MDC

I'm not really part of the Card Team at MDC but seeing the papers and stuff that Tamara sent, I was just so inspired to do the other challenges. :-) So I did this Ornament Card for the Holiday Shaped Card challenge. It was so easy, actually! I cut a circle shape on this pretty Imaginisce paper and stuck a rectangular green paper (scalloped on what end with scissors) on the top. I then adhered an Imaginisce Snow Flowers Crystal with a jewel brad in front and cut out the sentiment "Joy to the World" from another paper. Isn't it cute? :-)

Little Lady - first layout for MDC

My Internet has been down for a couple of days so I wasn't able to post my first layout as Design Team member of Mothers and Daughters Creations. Since mail is a little slow here in the Philippines, I got my kit from Tamara a few days before the deadline of the first challenge. Oooh! It was well worth the wait! Love love all the papers and embellishments that she sent. Couldn't wait to get started with my challenges. :-)

For the first challenge for December, we were tasked to make use of this sketch #12 by Julie Bonner from her 52 Weeks…52 Sketches blog.


I used papers from Imaginisce's Fairest of Them All collection for my layout. Check out also the other team members' work at the MDC challenge blog. :-)
